Krishna had his Friends and Gopis. He sang for them. Performed for them 

Pandit-ji had his disciples and accompaniments. He taught them. 

He was vocalist. Hari ( Krishna) was his guru. He sang for him.

His disciples were not only well-known vocalists like he was 

They were also  expert in instruments flute, violin and many others

Like Krishna who was flutist, charioteer and  philosopher all in one.
